Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Fun race, I started out to fast, and then faded on the last two miles.  Kelli just about "chicked" me again on the last 2 miles.  She will say I held her off, but I know she was just being kind. (either way, thanks for being nice, and thanks for pushing me)  I really feel the fact that I haven't been putting in longer mile days.  I need to get up to 5-6 per day during the week and build the strength and endurance on the weekend "long" runs.  Still fun, enjoyed the race, and for me this is a first on a 10k and first time I have ever placed in my age group.  All the old guys are wheelchair bound now, so I finally placed.  Yeah!!!!

After the race, everyone met over at Marion's for pancakes.  Yummy!  Enjoyed hearing how everyone did.  I'm getting more and more convinced this blog thing is good for me.  At least it gets me out of my shell a little.

Don't really know my splits, I thought I hit my lap button on mile one, but must have missed it.  So, the first two are together.

14:11  Pretty sure the first one was 6:40 or so.  That is what these guys said when we passed mile 1.

8:05  This is 1.2 miles, Kelli and Scott were pushing me, Scott took off, I tried for about two steps to stay with him, but no chance.

47:13/7:37 ( my "runnercard" thing they gave me after the race said 7:35 miles, I wonder how they are calculating that.)

Great race Jon! I am SO glad you came today! You had a very most excellent race! This blog is great eh? I really am liking meeting all kinds of new people! Thanks for coming by!

I said it in my blog for the record, but I will say it again---I could not have beat you if I had tried. Oh, wait, I am not really that nice, I DID TRY, but I couldn't do it in the end. You won fair and square.

So, did you get out of there quick? We needed gas and there is only one gas station where Scott can get gas there. And, you guessed it, it was back on the other side of the parade route! We did not get home until 12:30! Guess we shoulda gone on that 4 mile run after all.

Great job, once again!

Thanks again Marion, I'm glad you and Kelli talked me into going.

Kelli, I got straight out of there. Made it home by 11:45. But I only had to go to Orem.

My competitive spirit is kicking in a little, I'm thinking about going for a run tonight, just because I heard Scott and you talking about it.

I won't tell you how many miles then, so you won't have to compete!

Wish we had not needed gas. That was CRAZY!
