Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Went to the gym and did about 30 min of spin, then ran a few miles.  First mile was slow (8:20), then I was wanting to see how long it would take me to get it down under 8.  That is harder than I thought.  At mile 2 or somewhere near there I was about 8:10, then by mile 3 I was down to 8.  I new I was under by 3.5.  Dang mind games!

I want to increase my speed, so I cranked it up to 6:40 pace here and there.  Tried to keep that pace for at least .25 miles at a time.  Gym was hot!

Great workout! Indoors are always HOT!!!

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:12:41

I am confused. You were under by 3.5???

From jona on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:20:47

Sorry, no I was under 8 min pace. It just takes a long time/hard work to make up 20, 30 seconds.

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:23:46

Oh, I get it now. Those mind games are the only way to run on a treadmill, otherwise it is boring!

And watch out there calling 8:20 a slow mile. That is not SLOW.

From jona on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:28:40

Kelli, you know you run 8:20 all the time, that is YOUR putt around speed!

From Kelli on Thu, Dec 04, 2008 at 13:42:34

And you know you are full of it, right?

How fast are you shooting for Saturday? World record? I am curious to see how you guys do! You should race each other! With your long legs it could be quite the race!

I won't race Scott. He is much to fast for me. I will be there for fun, and a little speed.

From Teena on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 11:40:43

Jon,

A 7:34 pace is awesome. Especially considering the numerous hours you put in running each and every day!!! :)

Can't wait to hear how the race goes for all of you ... and see the pictures of course!!

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 12:14:49

Thanks Teena, I'm looking forward to the race. Seeing all the TuTu's will ROCK.

Time to post my TuTu warm up run photo.

:-)

From Teena on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 12:17:18

Okay ... I'm waiting ... where's the photo?

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 12:47:15

I'm trying. I don't know why its not working. I'm going to have to get a tutorial.

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 12:54:15

There you go. FINALLY. Wow look at all that winter weight. I better stop eating. :-)

From montelepsy on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 13:33:42

Seems like the tutu has had a positive affect on your outlook. At least according to your blog title.

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 13:35:10

Thanks Mike. To bad your not going to be around for the TuTu race. Fun times.

From Smooth on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 16:53:50

NICE tutu! What winter weight? It's the baggy shirt. May be you can wear some skin-tight leotard underneath the tutu. I'm sure you'll just fly or prance away. Have fun at the race. Do you get a nutcracker trophy if you win?

From Kelli on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 17:21:06

Winter weight?? Whatever!! Looks GREAT.

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 17:51:59

Smooth, LMHOROF! Anytime the words leotard, tutu and fly and PRANCE get used inside two sentences I don't want them to be describing me! LOL

I don't know if they give a nutcracker trophy to the winner. I'll watch the winner and see what she/he picks up.

Kelli, you and Smooth are tooooo nice. I see all kinds of winter weight. I'm like a dog putting on the winter coat, just keeping warm.

Tomorrow is going to be fun!!

From Teena on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 18:00:05

LOVE THE PIC!!!

What winter weight??? You're crazy ... you look terrific (and very manly might I add).

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 18:11:32

Thanks Teena for the "manly" comment. Picture in a TuTu, then comments like prancing has me worried! (totally saying this with a smile on my face!)

My daughter has had a good ol laugh at my expense over this TuTu thing. Its fun!

From Teena on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 18:16:25

Make sure to get more pics at the race!!

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 18:20:01

I will, most may have to come from Kelli. I may have one or two of my kids there, but don't know that they will have a camera. But will try. Fun stuff!

From tarzan on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 20:07:09

Jon - that is a great picture of you. I am so proud of you for posting for the whole world to see. Have fun in the race tomorrow.

I'm stealing Odee tomorrow to see how he compares in size to a buffalo.

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 20:12:03

Thanks Maurine - I'll bet Odee will make some of the buffalo look small.

Good luck on your race tomorrow. It is tomorrow right?

From tarzan on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 20:14:02

No - tomorrow is just a training run. Chance for me to get in some trails and see how much my endurance has improved since the last time I ran out there.

The race is in March. Still lots of openings for all the lengths!

From jona on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 20:16:00

For some reason I thought you raced with your sister(?) tomorrow. Memory, first to go right?

From tarzan on Fri, Dec 05, 2008 at 21:16:33

Oh - that was the Santa Run and it was last Saturday. Go check out our snazzy outfits. :)
