Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Ran to the fitness center, swam 400 meters.  Then ran home.  The uphill part that is part of the Turkey Tri always takes it out me.  Good run.  About got hit by a car.  Thats always a little exciting.  This time I was just amazed at how bad of driving it was.  The kid was turning left onto the street that I was on, I was turning right, he cut the corner and was almost on the sidewalk when he saw me, I started for the sidewalk, and luckly he went right.  Had I been 3-4 steps further I would have been going for a ride.

HOLY CRAP!!! I am so glad you are OK! I think it should be a requirement of all drivers that they spend a year as a runner/biker or even pedestrian!

Nice miles, by the way!

Marion, I totally agree that people need to spend some time on the street. Everyone would be safer.

Have you heard anymore on Sat run?

From marion on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 10:34:44

Thanksgiving point- 7am. 10 miles. Do you know any trails or routes over there?

From jona on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 11:15:25

Marion, COOL! I don't know anything of running over there. Better get this posted over on a popular blog, like yours or Kelli'. Someone knows some places to run over there.

From Kelli on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 13:39:47

Yeah, that is me, MRS popular! Only when Walter is around to crank my posts up!

Great run, and great near heart attack. Glad you survived it!

From jona on Tue, Oct 28, 2008 at 14:17:56

Yeah, I'm glad I survived, I had a good lunch today, I don't think lunch today would have been as good if he would have taken me for a ride on his hood.

Oh, I should go see if my heart rate was high right after that, I did have my HR on.

Are you training for a tri? I see you've got the swim tracker up.

From jona on Fri, Oct 31, 2008 at 15:18:14

I train right now for a tri about this time of year, after I BQ I want to finish an Ironman. For right now I am content with a small "sprint" tri here or there. I would log my swim yards when I do them, but I don't want those adding to my run total. I've seen some people on the blog get upset about bike miles getting included on the run totals for the leader board. So, I just write them in.

Do you do any swimming?

From montelepsy on Sat, Nov 01, 2008 at 12:23:18

There's no pool here or else I would. :)

I used to spend more time in the pool than on the road. It's changed in the last year, though.

When I'm back stateside, I plan on swimming a whole lot.

I'm not a great swimmer, just a very persistant one.

From jona on Sat, Nov 01, 2008 at 12:43:50

No pool? Yuck. I'll bet that is one of those highly missed things over there.

I like to swim, but its more time consuming than running. But I think you get a fantastic workout swimming. I'm not good either, I'm better when I consistently get in the darn pool.
