Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Ran in the fitness center again.  Tried to get my second mile down to 7:00 minute pace.   Today I concentrated on getting the pace the whole mile.  As I thought about the run the other day I realized that I had some slower laps that brought my mile speed down.  Today I made sure I kept it going the whole mile.  Stupid mind games!  But I made it.

Great Job, Jon. I think that is one of the biggest challenges in running. If you don't focus, the body takes the easy way out.

Thanks for all the speedy comments!

Jun, I've delt with the stupid mind games before, have been successful, but that one caught me off guard.

I'm like Pavlov's dogs. I do this stupid little mind trick while I run, and it has helped me during marathons/long runs. When I run I almost always have two places picked out ahead of me that I'm running to. So I will have location A, then location B, and when I get to A, B becomes A and a new B is chosen. So there is this constant ladder of locations. When I hit those "walls" either on marathons or long runs I fall back on A and B and tell myself in my head "go to 'A' then 'B', go to 'A' then 'B'......" Before I know it I'm done. So, I'm looking for a trick to help me focus on staying at a particular speed. Know any?
