Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Ran the canal road again.  This time I drove over to where I would miss the one "hill" that is on that road.  I wanted to see how things would go with my achilles and ITB on a flat softer surface.  Did pretty good.  Could feel my achilles a little 1 maybe 2 out of 10.  Nothing now hours after.

I'm headed up to support Kelly on a bike ride in Logan tomorrow.  I'll try and get as many miles as possible up that way.  Have a great weekend.

Oh, I tried something a little different, not sure how it will help or effect things.  But I got to thinking that sometimes I loose focus and forget that I'm trying to keep my speed up, and sometimes trying to keep my speed up for a full mile is very hard.  SO, I changed my watch to track half miles.  That way I get a little beep when I hit a half mile and I can see my time for that half.  So, here are my last three miles (changed the watch half way through this run) with .5 mile times.  (3:30, 3:28, 3:53, 3:46, 3:48, 3:35).  I figured that in the future I could try for 3:20, then rest (3:45-3:50), then 3:15, rest, 3:10.....til I get 3:00.

I don't know, I'm just playing around.  Someday I'll get serious.  :-)

Serious! That's already faster than I even dare to think about. Nice run!

Any news on a date for the upcoming Nuptials? Have a great day tomorrow!

Hey Jeff, You can run that fast!

No news yet. Have some interviews this Sunday, maybe have a better idea. Prior marriages slow things down to get permission for temple ceremonies. Ughh! GOALS! :-) Oh well it will be worth the wait!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Fri, Jun 05, 2009 at 14:02:48 from 71.35.171.45

Jon, Sounds like what my brother went through a couple years back. It took a while for it to get all done. He said it was well worth it to wait to be married in the temple rather than a civil ceremony and then wait for the temple later.

I'm going to target a 1/2 marathon @ 1:40...we'll see.

From Jon A on Fri, Jun 05, 2009 at 14:20:07 from 67.214.249.195

Jeff, that is what I/we think. I don't want to settle.

I think you can do 1:40. Tie a rope to Sean and have him run it. You'll be done in 1:10. :-)

I am going to shoot for a half in the next month or two, would like to get somewhere close to 1:30. I think I'm still a little off from that though in training.

Any thoughts as to which 1/2 you might run?

From Jon A on Fri, Jun 05, 2009 at 14:48:17 from 67.214.249.195

I wanted to run Hobble Creek, but missed the sign ups. And they fill up FAST. So, I will bandit that, and or run the Provo Canyon Half. Those are the two in focus, I am keeping an open mind to something this month too.

Do race officials get cheesed if you bandit these races?

From Jon A on Fri, Jun 05, 2009 at 14:59:03 from 67.214.249.195

They do, I won't use their resources. That is what cheeses them them most, and then you have to make sure you don't cross the finish line in case they are counting/keep manual track of finishers.

Jon,

There's a Bryce Canyon Half on July 18, I heard good things about that one. I'm not running it due to schedule issue. How about the RHPC sponsored Provo River 1/2 on July 11? It will be great fun running with the Bloggers. We really really want you and Kelly there.

I think your half mile repeats plan is great. That's kinda like doing Yasso's 800s. You're awesome!

From Jon A on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 12:34:39 from 67.214.249.195

Thanks Smooth, Kelly and I will be in WA for a bike race on July 11. I wish I could come to the RHPC run! I run that area all the time and it is wonderful.

I think I may try the Yasso 800 test. You run that around your block don't you?
