Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Plan was to run 6, as I got out I thought I would add a side street or two in, and if that took me up to 7 that would be fine.  Ended with only .5 additional.  Thats ok.  For some reason my legs were beat.

Yesterday I was feeling YUCK.  I was trying to explain to Kelly that it felt like I was in that training/racing "puke zone".  ALL day.  Well, last night Kelly ask me if I was taking and how it was working some medicine that she said would help me sleep deeper.  She has been giving me "Melatonin".  A few days ago I commented that I sleep really light.  I can fall back asleep, but most of the time little noises wake me.  Provides for not the greatest sleep.  So she has had me try melatonin.  Last night I looked it up on the internet and one of the side effects is nausea.  So, I wonder if I've got some bug or just that side effect.  I'll experiment with the melatonin and see what is going on.

So, legs felt very tired today, had to fight my mind to run.  Still had an ok overall pace.

Sorry about the sleep. I am not a light sleeper, but I do have a very loud baby who likes to wake up, so I know how it is to be sleep deprived.

Lack of deep sleep didn't seem to affect your speediness!!! :) I don't know anything about melatonin supplement. Hope you get some quality sleep tonight.

Jun - I can relate to the kids.

Smooth - I don't know if the melatonin caused the sick feeling. I'm pretty used to the amount of sleep I get off of melatonin. These are stressful days, I'll settle down in a month or two and get better sleep.

Melatonin makes me feel sick ,too, and very sleepy all day long.

Great job on the run!!!

Kelli, how long does it stay in your system? I didn't think that it maybe the melatonin that was making me sleepy during the day. First time I took 1 pill (don't know mg), second day 1 pill, next morning I remember feeling a little nausea. Third day I took 2 pills, slept better, felt more nausea than day before, fourth day took 2 again, next morning (yesterday) felt huge nausea, was very sleepy all day. Last night I just took one to see if I felt nausea today. Just a touch of nausea. I think I'll stop for now, and in a couple weeks try it (2 pills) and see if the nausea comes straight away. I did sleep, very out of it!

I only took it when I was pregnant, but it seemed to stay in my system for about a week. I can not take any type of sleeping anything without feeling the affects for days! A lot of people really like Melatonin, but I am not one of them!

I don't take melatonin very often - but my bottle says 1 pill maximum and it never gives me nausea. It will be interesting to see what you find out.

I have two co-workers though that are battling some virus that causes nausea too. You might have that.

Maurine, I have considered that too. That was actually my first thought. Often times as I'm coming down with something a day or two before I realize I have caught some bug my body is sore, especially my leg muscles. And Monday my leg muscles were sore. I don't know. I'll post my testing on the matter. :-)
