Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Oh how I didn't want to get out of bed today!  Then I didn't want to get my shoes on, then I didn't want to walk down the hall to the door, then I about turned around and to go back to bed.  Somehow I talked myself into going ahead.

Started off tired/sore/tight muscles from Sat long run.  Today I ran an out and back to the mouth of the canyon.  I was supposed to have an AP of 8:02.  When I hit the turn around spot I decided I would go for a negative split, mostly because I had a head wind the whole way headed out.  Looks like I got that.  I don't feel like I worked hard though so I hope it will be ok when Wed speed work gets here.

Very very very cool!! Especially getting out and running when you want to go back to bed so badly!!

Nice job DB!!!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:39:02 from 67.214.249.195

Just trying to keep up with the fast good runners like you TJ!

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 12:41:31 from 67.177.20.13

Yeah right!!! You can totally smoke me with your eyes closed!!!

From RAD on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:02:28 from 76.27.12.70

7:46 Not working hard? Man, I wish I had that problem. Nice job getting out despite the evil bed monster!! That thing is horrible.

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:14:10 from 67.214.249.195

TJ - Yeah right. I see your times. I'm glad you not running SG, so I won't have to learn more lessons in chicking!

Rachel - You have that problem. I saw you not even break a sweat staying with Walter Sat.

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:19:48 from 67.177.20.13

Oh ... I'm running SG!!!! :)

(Finally got in!!)

But no worries ... not even close to being quick enough to chick you ... but how cool would that be!?!? Something definitely to work towards!!! :)

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:23:11 from 67.214.249.195

STINK!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:24:11 from 67.214.249.195

NO CHICKING me!

From Snoqualmie Ridge Runner on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:25:34 from 206.188.45.92

Jon - Be VERY concerned about getting chicked at ST. G! Teena is in the HOUSE!! When she runs hills and still keeps pace; means she will kill that marathon -

That being said...your avg. pace is flying duder!! That pace is my speedwork pace. Not sure how my 10k is slightly faster than yours-

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:31:06 from 67.214.249.195

Jeff - Oh I AM VERY VERY concerned. If I remember correctly she had her first run back from like 5 years of injury and she ran like 16 miles with an AP of 7:40. I'll just make sure she starts in front of me, then I won't have to worry about the dreaded "C"!

Your 10k is faster because YOU are faster. Someday I just may figure out how to run. :-)

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:48:20 from 67.177.20.13

Oh ... you boys are hilarious!!!!

Seriously, no way I will even stay within a mile of you Jon ... you are so on fire. I will be happy just to match my last year's time.

Have you decided what you are going for? Are you going to chase down that BQ?

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 13:55:30 from 67.214.249.195

TJ - Seriously, you are way way fast! If I'm within a mile of you at the finish I'm going to brag that I finished a mile out from an elite! :-)

I am chasing BQ. I fear I haven't had a good enough training season. I don't doubt that I can put the speed out there, but I do doubt I can put the speed out there for long enough. I was glad to get the 18 run in this last week, and after I get 20 this weekend I will feel a little better, but I will be concerned with endurance through the end.

What do you think of intentionally looking at a negative split on SGM route?

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:08:34 from 67.177.20.13

You and I are in the same boat. I feel like my endurance is also the problem.

About the negative split ... ABSOLUTELY!!! This is the perfect course to do it on! I ran my first half last year at 1:51 and my second half at 1:44. It felt great!

I would definitely plan on a negative split!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 14:15:06 from 67.214.249.195

What time are your shooting for? I have to hit 3:20 for BQ, I am mentally running for 3:15. I figure if I tell myself 3:15 I will shoot for better than I need and mentally be in the right place. But I don't know how well that is really working because I KNOW what my BQ is. BUT, pace wise I focus on 7:20 which should give me more like 3:15. MIND GAMES!!!!!!!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:16:56 from 71.36.77.96

Jon, AWESOME MIND OVER MATTRESS this morning and got the week started off right! VERY GOOD JOB on the recovery run.

You definitely have the speed to BQ. Teena's mission in life is "to beat the boys". The trick to beating her is to run a true negative split. Let her be "the carrot" or rabbit. Then move in for the kill at the last stretch.

Keep the vision of Kelly(A) at the finish cheering and watching you BQ. How's that for mind game? Can't wait! You're doing AWESOME!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:30:13 from 67.214.249.195

I hope so Smooth, I play the movie in my head of getting to the finish with a little time to spare and crossing slow and savoring every tick of the clock as I cross into BQ land and Kelly A's arms!

From Smooth on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 15:34:31 from 71.36.77.96

YEAH! That's what I'm talking about! Keep playing that movie over and over and over every time you run! It's SO SO SO gonna COME TRUE! VERY COOL! :-)

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:30:14 from 67.177.20.13

No way that I am shooting for a 3:20. Sub 3:30 and I will be in heaven!!!

Smoothie ... you are so going to get it!!!! :)

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:48:24 from 67.214.249.195

TJ - Smoothie Q giving to much secret info out on her friend? :-) If I have to run a neg split to beat you, I'm in trouble.

From Teena on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:49:47 from 67.177.20.13

Seriously DB ... you will waste me!!! No worries!

From Jon A on Mon, Aug 10, 2009 at 18:51:19 from 67.214.249.195

HA HA, yeah right!!!!

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 16:50:43 from 71.35.210.115

Jon,

Have you run this morning? Don't tell me Teena beat you to the speed workout already! The temp was perfect. Have a great day! :)

From Jon A on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 17:08:57 from 67.214.249.195

I took the day off. I need new shoes. When my shoes get old, I start having achilles pain and other foot/leg pains. I tried to get some new shoes Sat, but runners corner was out of my size. So, I am taking an extra day between workouts to minimize pain. :-) I'll run tomorrow regardless.

From Smooth on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 17:37:18 from 71.35.210.115

Looks like all your Cumulus had over 300 miles. Glad you're paying attention. Hope you get some new shoes soon. I need new shoes too! Have a good run tomorrow!

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 20:14:40 from 71.219.82.15

great job today!!!

From Jon A on Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 22:57:42 from 74.81.243.250

Kelli, I agree. I think staying in bed is the way to go.
