Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Married to Kelly (with a 'Y')

Felt lucky to get some miles in, woke up kinda late, and didn't like that it was raining.

Legs felt fresh (should since I hardly used them last week).  At the half way point I told myself to keep the total pace for the run under 7:20.  I did it. I tend to slow up at the end of runs.  I think I need to do some runs where I go slower at the beging and then push harder for the last 2-3 miles.

Were you running on a trail? If so, that was some serious flying! Either way that is fast moving feet brother. I've got a buddy doing the STP...is that what Kelly is doing also?

From Jon A on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 14:39:39 from 67.214.249.195

Hey Jeff, I was running on a paved path.

Yeah, Kelly is doing STP. Her best friend Wendy is riding also. Wendy's husband and I will drive their support car. It will be a nice long day. They are some of the crazy's that do it all in a day.

You are so fast DB!! And if you started out a bit slower my money says that youR overall pace will be even faster!!!

I LOVE RUNNING IN THE RAIN!!! :)

From Jon A on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 15:44:35 from 67.214.249.195

So TJ, you think faster hu? I wonder about that. Looking at my splits and thinking back on other days I think I go ok slower on the first mile, but then have a tendency to go on the second mile. You think I should concentrate on slowly increasing the speed? So today may have been better some like this 7:26, 7:21, 7:12, 7:05, 6:55. But your thinking (and I have heard others say the same thing) that if that first mile or two were slower, then the last three maybe even faster for a faster overall average.

It will be painful, but I'm going to try. I'm terrible about pacing myself.

From Jon A on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 15:46:04 from 67.214.249.195

Oh, I love running in the rain too. BUT that's after I have already started. I would rather get out and get warmed up and then have the rain come. Then I could run all day in the rain.

From Teena on Mon, Jun 08, 2009 at 18:10:47 from 67.177.20.13

DB -- Can't wait to see how it goes. I would run much slower than a 7:26 for the first mile or so if I were you. I think it would be smarter to run a warmup mile in the high 8s, but don't count it in your average if that will discourage you. Then run your fast 5 miles starting at 7:26 if you want and progressively increasing the pace and then cool down (once again, don't count your cool down in your average pace if that will discourage you). Even 1/2 of a mile warm up and cooldown will help. Maybe just run slow for five minutes before even starting your watch. Just an idea.

Okay ... let us know how it works for you!!! :)

I agree with Teena!

Wow Jon. Haven't logged into your runs for a while. Nice pace! Uh, you are more than able to run with me. I'm usually in 7:30-8 range. Lets do it. I guess I need to walk across the street and talk to you!

From Jon A on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 12:53:36 from 67.214.249.195

Kelli, If I could just keep up with your pace. Your so fast.

Yeah right Matt! Your slow pace is my top speed. :-)

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 14:42:28 from 71.219.74.247

It is time to admit you are fast.

From Jon A on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 14:51:11 from 67.214.249.195

When I can keep up with the likes of you and Scott, and Matt ..... THEN I'll admit some degree of speed. :-)

Really, what I need is dedication. You are very dedicated.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 14:57:14 from 71.219.74.247

I agree. Not that you are not dedicated, just that you do not get out there as much as the rest of us do. BUT we are all crazy, you are sane! Honestly, though, you are fast! You may need some "discipline" to hone it all in, but you are fast!

From Jon A on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 15:10:46 from 67.214.249.195

You need to stop using the "F" word on my blog. See that red writing above this box your typing in? Keep it clean. :-)

Just kidding.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 18:32:39 from 71.219.74.247

Jon, you scared me. I thought I had a typo!

From Jon A on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 18:35:41 from 67.214.249.195

It is a 4 letter word. Sorry to scare you.

From Kelli on Wed, Jun 10, 2009 at 18:38:58 from 71.219.74.247

I scare easily when it comes to typing words right!
