Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Personal:

Married to Kelly (with a 'Y')

Went over to the JRP.  Saw Smooth at the start.  I decided to go 10 miles and not push the speed.  Ran the 10 and stopped.  My achilles was sore, but it didn't get worse.  I don't know how its related, but it sure seems like the ITB is the problem.  When the ITB starts to hurt the achilles starts to hurt.  Think I'll stretch more.  Pain is dull, doesn't seem to get worse.

Got the bike out and rode up Suncrest.  My bike muscles need work!!!!!

Take care of the ITB and Achilles. Stretch, roll, ice. HEAL!

They are for sure different muscles! But, with your FUTURE you better get those biking muscles in gear!!!

Great job, sorry about the pain. Stinks!!!

It was good to see you this morning. Did you run the hills? Uphill aggravates the archilles while downhill could kill the ITB. Ice, roll and stretch. Do you have a foam roller?

Wow, biking up Suncrest is MAJOR work! GOOD JOB!!!!

Hey guys, not sure how to ice the ITB. That thing is way deep in there.

I think Kelly has a foam roller. I'll have to see if she does and give it a try.

Smooth, good to see you. I ran south first for 6 miles hoping to avoid hills, then ran the North Side for 4 miles.

While on the south side I decided to try one of those side trails just south of the camp grounds. They are pretty cool. I saw some Pelicans. I didn't know we had Pelicans in UT, but we do. Those trails are cool. I think I will go further next time. The only thing I didn't like about them was that there are TONS of birds in that wetland area and the path is COVERED!!!!

I use a soft ice pack and wrap that around my knees 20 min on, 10 min. off. A bag of frozen peas and ace bandage work too. Just be sure to not have direct skin contact with the ice pack or your skin will get freezer burn.

If Kelly doesn't have a foam roller, you can borrow mine. I bought one a few days before Ogden from Wasatch Running Center. You roll from hip to just above the knee laying sideway. Pause at the spot where you feel pain/tightness for a few seconds then contine the roll. I'd do it 3-4 times a day. It gets less painful each time. It really helps loosen up that big fascia.

I'll have to run around that wetland area next time. I saw the pelicans the last two times I ran there; missed them this time. There were lots of dog doo doo on the north portion. I'd rather watch for bird poop and dog doo than traffic. :-D

Thanks Smooth, I'll give the roller a try.

I'm with you for watching for the animal droppings vs cars!
