Got a late start on the day. Run felt good, which I was surprised with. My right knee has been hurting all weekend. I was scared that I had done something to it. I stretched my ITB a couple times over the weekend, and this morning prior to running today. Knee felt good, no noticeable pain.
Time: 1:03:30
AP 7:44 (mile 5 at 7:10, mile 8 at 7:14, one or two at 7:30/7:40)
Ran from my house up Provo canyon and back to my house. Going up there was a pretty hard head wind, I have such a mental hard time with that. I feel like its harder to breathe. I know I should look at it as if I am just getting air rammed into my lungs, but I don't. Its harder to breathe. Oh well.
Made the turn around at mile 5 in 39 min. Then had a 2 min negative split going back. Mile 6 and 7 were 6:51 and 6:56. Mile 8 is mostly uphill so I tried to have some good effort, not as much effort as miles 6 and 7, but ok effort, that one turned in at 7:53, then the last two were mostly flat getting to the house. Miles 9 and 10 were 7:10 and 7:36 pace. Felt good, was tired at the end.
Went up and ran in Kelly's neck of the woods. About mile 4 I saw Smooth running her friends hard. Your such a strong runner Smooth.
I was going to run a route my friend Troy told me about last week, but as I got out there I realized he said that it would be 10 miles from where we were at the time, not from Kelly's house. So part way I bagged the route he said and just looped back to Kelly's via the "Alpine Highway." Thats a busy street.
Anyway, I don't have my time but if I remember correctly the total time was 1:16:55 which puts me at a 7:42 pace.
Weill, this was planned to be a 20 miler. Got a late start, then got interrupted with kid problems. Then had to hustle to a kids football game, then running around all over town getting kids stuff taken care of. SHAME on me for not getting out of bed!
It was hot when I was running and I had little energy. Kind of a yucky day. I hope I can finish the marathon in two weeks!
