Short-Term Running Goals:

Stay healthy!

Would like to BQ - need to shave 23 minutes off PR.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Keep running.

When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Kelly and I got up early, made it to the bus pickup early enough as to not be on the last bus.  I think the last three races I've been in I have been on the last bus.  But not Saturday.

I love the honesty (at least I've never come across dishonest runners) of runners.  It seems like runners have a level of kindness and honesty that isn't always seen in other sports.  Kelly hates to be cold, she had to think long and hard about taking off her sweat pants before the race.  She finally caved and handed them over.  I ran the bag to the drop off vans, as I got to the van I realized I had my sweat shirt on and I would have cried if I had to carry that during the race.  So, I sat my stuff down (drop bag, arm band with iPhone in it, and head phones)(Kelly was going to wear the armband and use the iPhone for music, thats why it wasn't on MY arm) I took my sweat shirt off and stuffed it in the bag, handed the drop bag to the volunteer, and went back to find Kelly.  About ten minutes later, I was thinking, I need to get Kelly set up with the music.  OH NO, I left my phone on the ground by the drop off van.  I look across the sea of runners and the vans are gone.  Panic sets in big time.  I run over to the area the vans were in and there on the ground is my phone and headphones.  PHEW!  Nobody stepped on it, and nobody took it.  I was so thankful!!!!!!!!!

Well, we were off.  The gun sounded while Kelly was in the POP, so we took our chip time getting out of the gate.  :-)

I wish I could report a good run for me.  But it wasn't.  I loved the course, I loved running with my sweetheart, and the race was well organized.  I just had a bad day.  Last year about this time Kelly and I ran almost this same route, we didn't know it that day, but that is the day Kelly broke two bones in her foot, which she is still having nerve pain a year later from., so I was intentionally keeping the pace slow so that Kelly would not re-injure her foot.  Kelly finished strong, and it seems like we are well on the road to Kelly getting her first marathon completed.

Love running with my sweetheart, hope to see some of you running friends out and about on Sat long runs.

WOW! what a crazy start! so glad your phone was safely found by you! I love reading your report and I can just picture you running lovingly with your sweetheart! You both have gone through a lot this past year in so many ways! I am very proud of you two and admire the way you persevered! So happy to hear that Kelly's injury is healing nicely and on her way to train for SGM! We must do some runs together!

CONGRSTZ on a wonderful job on Sat. I hope Kelly spoiled you rotten after the race to celebrate your birthday! Did all the kids come cheer or was everyone busy with games and parade?

Thanks Smooth, Your reports are inspirations to me.

Kelly did spoil me. We had a relaxing afternoon, and went to dinner and a movie with some friends.

I'll hold you to those runs, Kelly so enjoys running with you.

I do not think runners are honest, I think they were all wrapped up in themselves and just not paying attention! HA!!!

Glad Kelly had a good race, she is going to do well in the marathon. SHE CAN DO IT!!! You guys will have fun. Are you going to run the entire thing together? We did that in Boston and it was great.

From Jon A on Tue, Jul 19, 2011 at 19:51:12 from 107.0.7.18

Funny Kelli. I hope they are honest. At least this time, and I guess it doesn't matter, the iPhone was still there. :)

I plan on running the whole thing with Kelly. Next year when she knows she can do it, and she has been running awhile she will work on speed, and then I'm sure she will BQ and I will not (like usual) and I'll go cheer her on in Beantown. :)

You guys will have fun!!!! Looking forward to seeing you guys there.

Yes it will be fun. It would be great if we could get a bunch of FRB's to meet for dinner the night before SGM.

Are you running Onion Days this year?

From Kelli on Wed, Jul 20, 2011 at 18:39:08 from 71.219.99.3

Onion Days is still a thought....my kid actually want to do the 5k but we might be out of town. As long as we are here, we will be there runnin' it. I wonder if Marion will do the big breakfast again??? She did not run last year, but hosted us all anyway. It would be no fun without it but I know it is a ton of work for her.

From Kelli on Tue, Aug 02, 2011 at 09:42:08 from 71.219.99.3

Pretty sure you have run since June 25th!

From Jon A on Tue, Aug 02, 2011 at 15:10:18 from 107.0.7.18

Yep Kelli, I just haven't been taking the time to blog. I did write up a little thing on our Sat long run.

Tell Scott hello.
