Kelly and I ran our long run in Idaho Falls.  We took the family (mostly the oldest daughter) up to Rexburg to see BYU-I and her housing.  We stayed the night in Idaho Falls and took in some fireworks and swimming at the hotel.

Idaho Falls is beautiful.  Our hotel was about 4 miles from the temple and the paths that go around the Snake river right there in front of the temple.  So we ran up to the temple added some miles on the paths and ran back to the hotel.  Nice run, we were treated to a cool (< 60 deg) day.  (When you get to know Kelly a little better, you will know that anything less than 80 is COLD!)  But I loved the cool temps.

Nice run, GREAT company!

Have a GREAT day!

Kelly and I started off our day with a nice flat land run around our area.  Followed the run with a set of strides.  What a beautiful day.  We then took the family on a hike up the mountain.  Kelly's friend said the hike was about 1 mile and it turned out that even when we called it good (short of the destination) that my Garmin read 4+ miles.  So more than double what we thought it would be.  I ran probably .5 miles up, turned and went back to the group.  Hard running up the side of a mountain.  I don't know how those guys on this blog run the mountains.

Have a GREAT day!

AM: Got out this morning.  Didn't want to.  Thought several times that I would just miss today.  Talked myself into a short jog, and once I got out there I knew I would do the planned run.  So, mental win for me today.  :-)  Was a short run anyway, but on tired legs and mentally struggling I feel good that I got out.

Saw Smooth while I was out.  Sure like seeing smiling faces!

Have a GREAT day!

AM: Got out a little late.  Ran my normal 3 mile route.  Felt a little better than the last couple times out.  Which surprised me, my legs have been feeling tight and feet sore.  I was lacking on the energy today, but managed to have all three miles under 8 mpm.  I think I will up to 4 miles soon.

Have a great day!

PM: Ran with Kelly.  We did intervals (Those with warm up and cool downs were 5 miles).  She did awesome.  We went 3 min on, 2:30 off.  I think we need to have less rest time.  Maybe just increase the on time.

Ran the RHPC Half Marthon.  Ran the whole thing with my sweetheart.

Going up the canyon was fun, we got to talk to a bunch of people, Smooth, Kelli, LuzyLew, Erica, (Kelli's friend, don't remember her name), Marion, Maurine, Kellie, and MichelleL.....

I have to say, I have only read Twinkies blog, and I had never met him.  But wow, he ran the first 3 + miles with his son and then turned on the heat.  He passed us like we were standing still.  Good job Twinkies!

After the turn around we came down the first two miles or so to the first (or last going up) bathroom and I had to make a stop.  I feel bad, Kelly was in a rhythm and she stopped and waited for me.  I told her to go and see if she could catch Kelli and Friend but she did exactly what I would do and waited.  That short stop got her cooled off just enough that she didn't get that "step" back.  Oh well, it was fun, we saw and got to talk to some old friends and some new ones too.  GOOD TIME!!!

Ran over behind Smiths, then ran the school route with Kelly.  Did Strides for the last little way. Those things can be hard sometimes.  I think they are good to help your body know it can go faster though.

But they were hard, I think that last Fri when we did them we went to fast.  I think I was sprinting.  I don't think that is how strides are supposed to be done.

Have a great day!

Kelly and I rode our bikes to the legacy center, ran about 1.25 mile warm-up, then did 6x3min intervals with 2 min rest between.  Then rode home.  Intervals are hard work.  I think that they are a great workout, but HARD.  :-)  I jogged .25 miles after the intervals, then we rode our bikes home.  Legs are tired.  :-)

Ran the school route this morning, nothing exciting about it.  I really need to get more consistent with getting out and need to increase the # of miles I run in the AM.  Hopefully both of those will start happening.

Have a great day!

Kelly and I ran from the top of Alpine Loop towards the Mt Timpanogos Temple.  We got a late start and the heat in the valley overtook us, so we did the last 2.5 miles in the Lehi Legacy Center.  Average pace for the whole thing was 9:45.  I did run one of the miles at the Legacy Center at about 8 pace.  Serious downhill this route.  Kelly's foot is a little swollen just below the knuckle of the second toe.  I'm worried its a stress fracture.

Have a GREAT day!

Ran with Kelly at the Legacy Center.  Tried to go easy.  She was really sore from the downhill on Sat.  Kelly's foot is still hurting.  If it swells up after this run, I think I will see if I can talk her into taking the rest of the week off and see if she can heal up a little.  BUMMER if she is injured.

AM: Ran 5 miles, using part of the Smiths route and the school 3 mile route.  First time this year I have run by myself for more than 5 miles.  Felt tired the WHOLE time.  Legs felt like a ton of bricks.  I really had to mentally tell myself I could do it.  I'll add some more of some sort of cardio tonight.  Probably bike some hard miles with Kelly.  We have determined that she most likely has a stress fracture at the base of her second toe.  :-(  She isn't liking the fact that she will have to take some time off from running.

I need to get some new shoes.  These Nimbus push on my third toe on the right foot and make it rub against the second toe.  Today I got home and  had bled through my sock and I could see the blood on the outside top of the shoe.  :-(  Only a little bit of pain, nothing that a band aid won't solve until I get some new shoes.

Have a great day!

Put a band-aid on the toe, and hit the road.  But that wasn't until I woke up late.  So had to cut the run short.

Ran part way up Suncrest, the uphill part I averaged 8:13, and the downhill part was 7:25.  I felt really dizzy/sick after.  Hummm.

Have a GREAT day!

AM: Ran up Suncrest.  I think that will be my new measuring stick.  I'll see if I can increase pace and distance on that same route.  On the up part I was just over 8 mpm, then the down I was 7:15-7:20.  On the flat heading home I hit under 7 (6:55-6:57) for just about .5 miles.  That was nice to see on the watch. I kept the pace about 7:50 for the last mile. (except for that fast part at the very beginning of that last mile.)  Will run some with Kelly again tonight.  :)

Have a GREAT day!

PM: Tried a run with Kelly.  Her foot is worse.  I think she needs to stay off of it.  We did get 3 miles together and I think she even averaged about 8:15 per mile.  Her foot was throbbing with every step so she stopped and opted for weight lifting, while I finished 2 more miles. I finished those two miles with an average of about 7:40.  There was about a half mile at 7:15 pace.  That was good, but kinda was pooping out.

Have a great night.

Got a late start on the morning.  When that sun comes up, about 20 minutes after it is over the mountains it gets hot quick.  Ran 5 miles.  That will probably be all for the day.  Legs were a little tired after the 10 yesterday.  Puts me at 21 for the week, I'll get 5 more tomorrow (planned easy miles).  Then Kelly and I will put some miles (25+) on the bikes.  That will put me at 26 for the week, then should have 18 on Sat.  I feel the need to increase my weekday miles.

Have a GREAT day!

Ran 3 miles up Suncrest then back home.  My legs are TIRED!  I hope I can get my long run in tomorrow.  Not sure where I will run tomorrow, flat almost for sure.  I better get out early too.  The heat the last couple days has taken its toll on me.

Have a GREAT day!

Ran on the JRP.  Kelly rode her bike.  Got out WAY to late.  I'm always amazed how the heat makes it a harder run.  The first half of my run was nice, I felt good, then it kept getting hotter and hotter and hotter and .....  I was supposed to get 18, pulled up short, I think the heat and the fact that this week is about 10 miles more than previous weeks this year did me in.  Feel like a looser, must get out earlier.

Have a great day!
