When I started running my wish that turned into a goal was to qualify for Boston. Just so I could say "I qualified for Boston."

AFTER BQ, I think I will do some Tri events.  For sure some Half Ironman events, and see where that takes me.

Ran to the fitness center (3 miles) met Kelly and ran (2.25) the indoor track while she lifted weights.

First time running alone for awhile.  Have been running with Kelly, averaging 25-30 miles a week and increasing.  We both made it into SG, so we are following a 20 wk schedule for that training.  We need to find some fellow Lehi-ans for some group runs.

Ran to the fitness center again by myself.  Met Kelly there.  She did weights.  I had some fun letting a hill take me for a FAST 200 yrds or so.  I think I was something close to 4:25 pace.  (well that is what Garmin says that pace was)  The hill is steep and I didn't want to loose control, but wanted to experiment with quicker turnover.  I never felt out of control, so it was fun.  Average pace was just under 8.

Ran with Kelly and Smooth.  Nice easy run.  Smooth is in such good condition.  I love the positive attitude Smooth has.  I learned something new about Smooth, she learned how to golf.  "Balls good/fun, Rocks BAD!"  :-)

Quick 3 miles before work.  Will get some tonight with Kelly.  I'm hoping I can start getting a morning run in, then run with Kelly in the eve.  Hopefully I can pile on enough miles that I can be in somewhat ok shape for this running season that we are already well into.

Short 3 miles this morning before work.  Plan to run with Kelly tonight.

Working my way up to higher miles at a faster pace.  I think I'll be up to 5 miles next week at 8 or better.  Then this 3 miler should feel good at 7:50 or better.  I hope anyway.

This route is my standard 3 mile route.  I will increase to 4 or 5 next week.  I look forward to running this route at a faster pace and not being as tired as I am.  I know I need to increase my millage on this run to make the 3 miler easier.  Felt a little tired from running last night, but nothing big.  Maybe feeling a little more tired now that the run is over though.

Kelly and ran a loop over to Alpine, then back to Lehi Legacy Center.  We got a late start and got to run in the heat.  I think Kelly may have been a little dehydrated as well.

I would recommend that you run several hours before or several hours after the hottest time of day.  I got out about 6, and it was HOT.  I was amazed how the heat effected my pace.  At least I got some miles in.

AM:

Ran 3 mile school route.  I missed the morning run last week, so am doing 3 this week and see if I can move to 4 next week.  I'm hoping I can increase my millage enough to have a good showing at SG this year.  Have a great day!

PM:  Ran with Kelly to the Legacy Center, thats 3 miles, then did 2 more miles on the indoor track, which to my surprise was cooler than outside.  Usually those indoor tracks can't keep the A/C going good enough.  Then we did some weights.  Just arms though.  Kelly had mercy on me.

Got out and ran again this morning.  Planning on another run tonight with Kelly.  The two a days are taking there toll, its only 8 miles or so, but I'm feeling it.  Mostly in the speed (or lack there of) in the morning.  I struggle to stay at 8 mpm.  It will come.  This is only the 4/5 time this year I have been out trying to get faster speeds, so I know that it will build.

 

PM: Kelly ran Intervals (I stuck next to her, and paced/talked her through).  6x3min at 90-95% with 2:30 rest between. These were her first serious (timed) intervals.  She did great.  Those are hard work.
